Cybersecurity is being developed to provide research and development, education and workforce training in the national security arena for both the public and private sectors. North Dakota State University has been a strong contender in advanced computer science for some time and has produced some of the highest quality researchers and educators at all of North Dakota’s institutions of higher learning.

Through a strategic partnership with an NSA-approved education institution, a roll out of an elite cybersecurity research and education program is on an aggressive timeline. This is crucial. There are approximately one million current private sector vacancies for cybersecurity professionals and ten thousand unmet positions in the federal government in the United States. Thus, the ultimate goal of developing cybersecurity programs is to enhance North Dakota’s research and workforce capabilities and draw new industries to the state.
